THE HUMAN BODY IN COLLABORATION
My figure paintings are created through a hyper sense of being, impressed upon by the short duration of the figures presence and influenced by the moment. When I am painting or drawing the human body from live models, I am often asked "Where do you see all that?"
I sense that I am corresponding to the human figure with a meta physical perception. This is a perception towards the higher vibrating physical surroundings such as the etheric and astral layers that surround and
penetrate us.
Rather than painting exactly who that particular model is, I try to capture the essence of their being. Specific surface details are not a concern with these works as I am trying to hone in on the figures presence in space. I focus on the boundaries between skin and air to record a trace or memory of what they are.
THE PAINTING PROCESS:
Beyond Space
I survey the figure like a satellite would scan the earth for gold
I am interrested in what is not physically seen
I see through something else of my mind, that of which my body perceives
I need to view deeper than surface details
I sense the flow of space acting upon the edge or surface
I am interrested in the effect an object has on it's immediate surroundings
I am part of these surroundings, millimeters from the skin through the space and distance to my minds eye
I choose my painting colours like I am setting up different filters to record these impressions
I paint waves and emissions of colour and light as they burn onto my retina and a projected image is lasered onto paper
